We are artists. Artistry inspires, sharpens, and defines our approach as we seek the principles of beauty and incorporate them into our work as residential architects. This approach challenges us to explore every angle, to consider more deeply how we merge form with function, and to paint a portrait in architecture of our clients’ unique lifestyles.
We began designing custom homes in 1983, under the name Curtis Gelotte Architects. We set out with a vision for crafting distinct residences that reflect the lives of the people who inhabit them. With time, we forged relationships with local crafts people and built a selective team of residential designers committed to art through architecture. First Scott Hommas, and later Eric Drivdahl, took up the mantle of leadership, forming Gelotte Hommas Drivdahl Architecture.
Today, with more than thirty years behind us, we continue to approach each project as an opportunity for artistry and service—an opportunity to tell our clients’ stories through light, space, and that perfect combination of gestures that makes a house into a home of distinction.
The evolution of a design compels us. A client shares a dream, and together we refine that dream until a concept emerges, and from that concept, a home. Our style molds to each new story we encounter. We mingle architecture’s greatest inspirations with the distinct lifestyles of our clients, weaving classical design principles with modern amenities to fully express our clients’ ideal homes. Fusing light, form, place, and materials, we journey with our clients to capture the beauty of art in custom homes.
The entirety of our residential design process centers on dialog with our clients. Each step is service and each choice, artistry
This is the art of architecture.
