This five-course, fully online certificate is developed in partnership with UCLA Department of Geography. It provides a comprehensive foundation of knowledge and skills associated with geographic information systems (GIS). It teaches computer-based mapping and spatial analysis techniques with hands-on, project-based instruction using industry-standard GIS software platforms. Upon completion of the program, participants will be prepared for a GIS job and/or integrate GIS technologies into their current professions.

The LBCC Green Building and Water/Energy Efficiency Workforce Training Program will train 125 unemployed or underemployed workers with a focus on workers with construction experience and facilitate the attainment of industry-certified certificates.

In partnership with the City of Long Beach, the Port of Long Beach, Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Board, Siemens USA and local small businesses, The LBCC Water/Energy Efficiency Pre-Apprenticeship Program will provide a comprehensive training to 100 new workforce entrants with little or no construction experience.

The Bachelor of Architecture degree is offered in a five-year curriculum, which focuses on the design laboratory. The studio sequence consists of four segments: a three-year basic core, three-semester topic studios, an urban design studio, and a two-semester long culminating senior project. Lecture classes in Architecture Theory and History, Human Behavior, Professional Practice, Programming, Sustainability, Building Technology, Structures, Codes and Digital Media are closely coordinated with the studio sequence, and students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of these areas in their design projects.

Ratings (including site inspections) for Build it Green GreenPoint Rated and Passive House projects. Development of energy efficiency guidelines and planning to assist schools in the implementation of mandatory energy efficiency, education and conservation requirements that include site master plans. Provide architectural drafting design services and assist with CF-1R Title 24 Calculations.

Design and production drawings of multifamily housing projects and church facilities, procurement of RFP’s for consulting services, such as utility mapping, mechanical systems, etc. Providing 3D renderings to clients of projects for presentations and providing schematic design packages for preliminary planning review.

HERS and Energy Audits of Residential and Commercial projects, including additional Ratings such as Energy Star, GreenPoint Rated and Passive House. Other project include ASHRAE Level I Audits of commercial properties for LADWP Photovoltaic installation incentives.

Develop a Home Owner Manual for the new residences following Build It Green Guidelines and Standards, which includes operational and maintenance guidelines in addition to being used by the developer as a training manual.

• Became the first PHIUS+ Rater in Southern California
• Case study project has resulted in major saving in Electrical Utility cost due to the installation of a Photovoltaic System and efficiency upgrades, with electrical usage being reduced to $1.13 in April of 2014 from $119 in April of 2013.
• Participation in multiple building system standard programs, such at Build It Green, Passive House and others has given me the ability to see where different programs overlap and assist in making recommendations to help the project stay on schedule and budget while obtaining the best building performance possible for the project.
